How it Works
Description
Event Description:
With 300 galleries in Chelsea, where do you begin? We find the most innovative art, and lead you on an insightful, entertaining and affordable journey through the contemporary art scene. With over 17 years of experience, thousands of clients, and a director/ guide with a Ph.D. in arts education, we're the city's #1 gallery tour provider!
Event Itinerary:
- We'll begin with a 3-min. orientation near the first gallery, to explain what to expect on the tour, and ground rules such as no touching the art, but take whatever photos you want.
- We'll then visit the first gallery, steps away from the meeting place. The director will explain the artwork there, then allow participants to ask questions and give their reactions to the artwork, then the director will facilitate a brief group discussion.
- Afterwards we'll walk 1 or 2 blocks to the next gallery.
- We'll repeat step 2 in three or four additional galleries, spending 10 - 15 minutes in each gallery.
- Finally we'll wrap up the tour for final questions and reactions, and to vote on your favorite exhibit.

About the Instructor:
Our founder and director Rafael Risemberg, Ph.D. in arts education, founded New York Gallery Tours in 2002. He was a college professor for 16 years before devoting himself full time to gallery tours. For three years he was also the art critic for the New York Blade.
About the Venue:
Chelsea is the world's epicenter for contemporary art, with over 300 galleries for us to choose from in a 6-block span. All of the world's great galleries have a space in Chelsea, either as their world headquarters or as their most important satellite branch.
Cancellation Policy
No Cancellations or Refunds: This provider does not offer a full refund for a cancellation in any case. If you can no longer commit to the event, we will work with the provider to try to secure a portion of your funds back, but in most cases you will not be refunded at all.
Changes Policy:
Flexible: You will be able to make changes to your group size up until 72 hours as long as you meet the provider minimum. You will also have up until this period to make additional accommodations for the event
Our guide was fantastic- he curated an excellent tour. We learned a lot about the art works and enjoyed walking around Chelsea. The galleries and artists were beautiful and intriguing. Although there were a lot of people in our group we never felt cramped or rushed.
