Event Description: 

Learn the entire macaron making process hands-on with a French chef.

In this workshop you'll make about 24 different macarons in a mix of vanilla, chocolate, and pistachio. You'll work alongside a French born and raised chef who is highly trained and skilled in French cuisine, and feast on a tasting of the many French flavors during the class.

Additional Notes: 

  • This provider is BYOB friendly but only allows up to two bottles of wine/prosecco. They can not provide a wine key or glasses, but do have paper cups available.
  • The provider is a bakery and pastries & cakes are available for purchase and can be consumed during the event.

Event Itinerary: 

  1. We'll start mixing the ingredients.
  2. After this we'll be baking the shells.
  3. Next up is making the fillings.
  4. And finally we'll be assembling and tasting what you have created!

What You Will Make / Go Home With: 

Each guest will go home with:

  • Full box of 24 macarons
  • A recipe sheet to continue baking at home

Cancellation Policy

Moderate: This provider allows for cancellations with a full refund to occur 1 week or more in advance of the event. Cancelling within a window of less than 1 week will result in an inability to be refunded.

Changes Policy:

Flexible: You will be able to make changes to your group size up until 72 hours as long as you meet the provider minimum. You will also have up until this period to make additional accommodations for the event

In this class, I gained some tips about making macarons that I had not picked up on in my extensive internet research on the subject. Also, this bakery teaches the Italian meringue style of making macarons, not the French method that you often see in recipes, which was great. The bakery was very tiny, and I was surprised that they offered classes in such a small space. Once all eight students found a place to work and the class got rolling, though, it was not a problem. The French chef was very nice. He told us that he has only been in New York for three weeks. The only aspect of the class that I was a little surprised at was that the chef's English-speaking skills were very basic. In and of itself, I did not mind this at all. I welcome and enjoy international visitors, from all areas of the world. After all, we wanted to be taught by a French pastry chef, and we were! However, in this class, there were times when questions were asked of the chef that he seemed unable to fully and accurately answer, either because of not completely understanding the question, or because of struggling to find the words in English to properly respond. Overall, though, I really enjoyed the class and am glad that I attended.

The class met it's objectives. One was able to understand and gain a general knowledge base on making classic French macarons. Dimetre was our pastry chef and he was thorough with is instructions. We got to take home the ones we made in class.

Very Nice Class on making Macarons. The French Pastry Chef Was outstanding and took the time to explain the process as well as making the class very easy to understand. It is located in a small intimate area in the back of the Bakery Storefront which amazingly worked out was a small class of 8 people with active participation and at the end you receive your own personally assembled box of Macarons. Great date activity
Loved the class! Went with a friend and were taught how to make macaroons. They broke down the process and answered all out questions. We also go to bring 3 flavors we made home. They were yummy!
