Description

Event Description:

Located in the heart of the Flatiron district, the Quench studio is a working jewelry studio. During this 2 hour session, you will learn how to create a monogrammed pendant or keychain using Precious Metal Clay. Learn different techniques to shape, form and mold your piece into a beautiful solid fine silver pendant or keychain using found objects and letter stamps. Our workshops are designed for the absolute novice, so no experience is necessary!  This event has no food or drink, but you are more than welcome to bring food and drink.

Event Itinerary:

  1. Once the group arrives, your hosts will introduce themselves and explain what Precious Metal Clay is and how it differs from other types of metal.
  2. Each attendee gets familiar with the medium and rolls out the clay using a special rolling pin.
  3. Using different objects to add texture to the pieces and molding and shaping the piece they then stamp a letter into the clay.
  4. The pieces are left to dry whilst your hosts will take you on a guided tour of the studio and explain some other metalsmithing techniques.
  5. Once the pieces are dry, the attendees sand the pieces and are free to mingle and enjoy any refreshments they may have brought with them.
  6. The pieces are fired into solid fine silver and are professionally polished and finished by experts which are mailed to the attendees 2-3 weeks after the event.

What You Will Make / Go Home With:

Each guest will go home with:

About the Instructor:

You will be taught by Stephanie or Jo, metalsmiths with over 35 combined years of jewelry making between them. They will make your event fun and teach you new techniques. Once your piece is ready and mailed to you, you will be getting compliments on how beautiful your new jewelry is and you'll be able to say Thanks! I made it!
